Quest for Viv Prologue It had been a normal enough day. . . until the Golden Dragon struck without any warning at all. Valgarv-no, wait, he had been Valterria then, had been out of the village when it happened. He saw the smoke rising, and had run back as fast as he could. He had seen the silhouettes of the Golden Dragons, and knew it was best not to be seen by them. . . his people were not on the best terms with the Golds at the moment. He heard screams as he got closer to the village. As he charged out of the forest, he screamed in pure terror. His golden eyes burned with tears in an instant. Blood. Blood was everywhere! The ground was soaked in it. His people's blood. His friend's blood. His family's blood. . . that snapped him out of his shock. His younger sister, Viv, was in the village. He had to find her, and then they had to get out of there. Their mother had died years ago in an accident, and their father, who was the elder of the village, was at Ceifeed's temple, trying to negotiate a peace with the Golds. It would be weeks later when Val would find out that his father was already dead. As Val charged down the streets toward his house, he saw images of terror that he would never be able to forget. Never. No matter how hard he tired, these images would haunt him, and keep his newfound hate of the Gold alive-and the new feeling of wanting revenge. He stopped short as he rounded the corner. His house was on fire. He was about to go in and make sure Viv had gotten out when a group of the Golden Dragons, who were killing every one of the Ancient Dragons they saw, spotted Val. Val did the only thing he could do, he ran. He knew if he died, there was nothing he could do to get revenge for what the Golds had done. This was not what the servants of Ceifeed did! Ceifeed's holy races of Dragons did not go around killing each other off for no apparent reason! By the time Val got away from the Golds and back to the village, it was too late. . . the fires were down to embers, and there were no more screams. . . only silence remained. Val never did find his sister. There was no trace of her. He assumed she had died in the fire. It just gave him more reason to hate the Golds. In the months that followed, all the Ancient Dragon villages were sacked by the Golds. He was the last one left. When the Chaos Dragon Gaav stumbled across him in the desert, and offered him a new life as a Mazoku, Val took it without a second thought. Now he could avenge his people, now he could avenge Viv. . . " I'll do whatever it takes," Val thought as he felt the cold steel of Gaav's blade impale him, " If I have to destroy this planet to get my revenge, I will. . . " Chapter I Valgarv sighed heavily as he tired to sort things out in his head. Viv had died that day. . . he was positive! She had burned to death in that awful fire. But L-Sama said she was alive, so she had to be. Then there was the next problem. Luna Inverse knew where Viv was. How was he, Valgarv, the General of Hellmaster Phibrizio, supposed to get in contact with Luna Inverse, Knight of Ceifeed? Maybe Valterria could talk to the Golden Dragons. He was a full Ancient Dragon after all. Tallen, Hellprice PJ's best friend, was a Gold, and Valgarv's adopted mother, Filia was too. Between the three of them, he should be able to get a hold of Luna. " Now problem number three: how do I ask Hellmaster for some leave without pissing him off?" Meanwhile. . . In a small house, out in the woods, far from town, and farther still from the cities, a young woman was outside, sitting in a tree, reading a book. She had lavender hair that stuck up in wild spikes above a black headband. Her bangs hung down over the headband, and were always in her face. The rest of her waist-length hair spilled down around her shoulders. Her eyes were gold, and glittered with a hint of silver when the light hit them just right. The girl was of medium height, and she was skinny. She was wearing a simple white dress. The oddest thing about this girl was that a gray horn stuck up out of her head close to the top of her forehead (but above the headband) along with the spikes of lavender hair. " Hey Viv!," another young woman called from the doorway of the house. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was very skinny, and rather short. You could see the end of a golden tail sticking out from under the hem of the girl's light blue dress. There was a matching light blue bow tied on the tip of the tail. The girl had on white boots. " Yes, Uka?," Viv, the girl in the tree, called back. " Have you seen Nam?," Uka asked as she walked up to the tree. " Nope. I haven't seen him all day. Last I new he went to see if there was anything going on at the temple," Viv said as she hopped out of the tree. " Oh. Did he fly?," Uka asked. " I think. He should be back soon," Viv said, " Do you need any help inside?" " Actually, yeah. I'm trying to organize the book case," Uka said, " You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've found!" Viv laughed as she and her friend headed towards the house. " Hey!," a masculine voice called from above. " Hey Nam!," both girls called as a giant Golden Dragon landed. " What's going on?," Nam asked as he regained his human form. Nam was tall and skinny. Like Uka, he had blonde hair and bright blue eyes, but his hair only fell to his waist, while Uka's fell almost to her ankles. He was in a pair of white pants and had a priest like robe on. It was white with gold highlights. His boots were white too. " Not much. We're just doing some tiding up," Uka smiled as Nam walked over, " Anything going on at the temple?" " Not much. There's a rumor going around that Ceifeed-sama has been reborn in a human body, of all things!," Nam said with a grin as the three friends went into the house. Back in Hell. . . Valgarv was slightly unnerved as he neared the throne room. It was quite in the hall. . . Phibby and PJ's constant bickering couldn't be heard. Valgarv pushed open the doors to receive another shock. The throne room was empty. . . the only occupant was Phibby's old beat up Shabranigdo plushy, and it sat on Phibby's throne, just as it always did. Valgarv stepped out onto the balcony and looked out over Phibrizio's domain. Nothing was going on outside. . . " Where is everyone?," he asked the empty room, then he headed out the throne room doors. He new destination was the library, but as he neared the formal dining room, the sounds that had been missing from the throne room hallway were now present. " Shut up Phibby!" " If you don't leave me alone you little brat I'm gonna-" " Gonna what? I could kick your ass in a battle, and you know it!" " Why don't both of you shut-up!," a third voice yelled, and Valgarv smiled. That voice belonged to Genie, his granddaughter. " Yeah, why don't you? You're giving me a headache," a deep voice that could only belong to the Chaos Dragon Gaav said. " Someone decide to throw a party without me?," Valgarv asked with a smirk as he entered the dining hall. " Hey dad," Vallos, Xelterria and Valterria said at the same time. " About time you got here," Phibrizio said with a grin on his face. " I didn't know I was supposed to be here, Master," Valgarv said, " What is going on?" " I called everyone here," Raya said, " I think you deserve some time off to go find your sister, Viv." " So why are the rest of us here?," Gaav asked. " Because, Val-kun can't do this on his own!," Raya said, " So I am going with him, as are our children and Genie." " Cool," Genie said. " When do we leave?," Vallos asked. " I wanna come too!," PJ piped up. " If he goes, I go, to keep him in line," Phibby argued. " I don't recall giving anyone time off," Phibrizio said, then he looked at his children, " Or giving either of you permission to go with them." " Neither do I,," Gaav snickered, " You all do know that as soon as Shabranigdo-sama and Ceifeed rear their heads, there will be war. . . and a REAL one this time." " That's all the more reason for us to go find Viv now!," Raya argued, " We need Luna Inverse's help!" " I thought the last war was real enough. . . Xelterria almost died, for L-Sama's sake!," Vallos said. " That's the only real thing about the last war!," Phibrizio rolled his eyes, " More then likely, a few of the Generals and Priests will die in this next war, and maybe even one of we Lords will." Everyone but Gaav became a few shades paler at that comment. " But that is not the issue at hand," Phibrizio said, " Raya, Valgarv, Phibby, and PJ, you have my permission to go find Viv and bring her back." " Vallos, Xelterria, Genie, you can go to if you want," Gaav said. " Let's go then," Valgarv said, " I suppose we should go see my mother and Tallen first, ne?" " Yep!," Raya giggled as they vanished. " I hope they can get her in time," Gaav said. " We still have about twenty years before this war hits us," Phibrizio said, " We should start building our armies up now, and we should start training our Generals and Priests. . . speaking of that, you are going to have to decide weather or not to keep Xelterria as your Priestess, and if not, find a replacement, and get them trained." " It's her decision, not mine, if she wants to keep her position or not," Gaav sighed. " Talk to her when she gets back then. We have no time to waist," Phibrizio said as he and Gaav walked towards the throne room. Chapter II " Uka, what on earth did you do?," Viv asked as she entered the library. " I just decided to alphabetize everything," Uka shrugged, " Go put the A's up while I finish up alphabetizing the rest of the books." Viv shook her head, but complied, and headed over to the A stack. Nam stood in the doorway, watching. " At least help," Uka told him. " Why? It's much more amusing watching the two of you fuss over everything," Nam laughed as he walked over to help Uka sort the books. Viv smiled as she picked up the first few books and began to put them in order, the last book in the stack had a picture of a dragon in it. Viv stared at the picture,. . . the dragon was so familiar yet so alien. Viv slowly opened the book, and saw more pictures. She gasped as a scene flashed through her mind. . . almost like a memory. . . * A young man with turquoise hair stood in a doorway. He had golden eyes, " What are you doing, Viv?," he asked. " Will you leave me alone!," she yelled, " Why don't you go out and bother Zarica or kill a Mazoku! Dad's gonna be home soon, and we'll finally know what the Golds are up to!"* Viv yelped and slammed the book shut. She suddenly found herself out of breath, and she began to pant for air. Nam and Uka looked at her. " Are you okay?," Nam asked her. " Yeah," Viv said and forced a smile, " I'm going to go get a drink," then she ran from the room, half dropping half throwing the book to the floor. Uka and Nam exchanged worried looks and Uka went over and picked up the book. " 'The Way of the Ancient Dragon'. . . ," Uka read the title, " Why would a book on the Ancient Dragons freak Viv out? I didn't even think she knew they existed." Nam shrugged, " I don't know," he lied, then he thought to himself, " I have to talk to Luna!" Meanwhile. . . " I don't think they're going to let us in," PJ said as he and the others stared at the golden doors that were the entrance to the Fire Dragon King's Temple. " What was your first clue?," Phibby rolled her eyes. " I think them slamming the door in our faces was a pretty good hint," Vallos shrugged, and it was Xelterria's turn to roll her eyes. " Brothers. . . ," Phibby and Xelterria sighed at the same time. Raya giggled. " I'm going to try something," Valterria said, then he morphed to his true form-that of an Ancient Dragon. The door slowly creaked open. " What?," a voice asked. " I would like to speak with Filia and Tallen," Valterria said. " Hold on." An hour later. . . " I say we bust down the doors and-," PJ started. " You will do no such thing!," Filia said as she and Tallen came out, " It's a big temple, and it takes a while to find people." " Plus it doesn't help that most of you are Mazoku," Tallen added under his breath. " Mom, do you know where Luna is?," Valgarv asked, " She knows where my sister Viv is. . . " " I know. . . Luna is at Ceifeed's Temple. That's a long journey, and you're going to have to walk, and even when you get there, more then likely, only Valterria and Valgarv will be able to enter," Filia said. " I will guide whoever is going there," Tallen said. " Alright. . . here's the deal," Valgarv said, " Valterria, Tallen, my Mother and I will go to Ceifeed's Temple. . . the rest of you, head back home." Val was bombarded with a chorus of: " No! You need help! I don't wanna go home! I'm going anyway! Daddy! Dad!" " They can come, they just wont be aloud in the temple," Filia giggled. " You guys, I said go home! It will be useless for all of you to tag along if you can't even see Luna! Plus it wont help me if Viv still has a hatred of Mazoku for me to show up with Generals and Priests, not to mention Phibby, PJ and Genie!," Valgarv sighed. " I suppose you have a point, Dad," Vallos sighed. " Tell us when we can come meet Aunt Viv," Xelterria smiled, " Come on Genie." " See you guys later," Genie grinned, " Kick butt if you have to!" " I'll go tell everyone back home what's going on," Raya said, " Be careful. . . the Golds aren't going to like you either, you know." " Well, I suppose I can catch up on reading all those books Zone gave Valterria. . . I'm halfway though them!," Phibby grinned. " This isn't fair!," PJ sighed, " I guess I can go train or something. . . maybe I can go kick Sherra's butt." " We'll see you when you get home, love," Raya said, then she kissed her husband and vanished; as did Phibby and PJ. " Well, that was easier then I thought it would be," Valgarv said. Tallen shook his head. " What?," Filia asked him. " I thought PJ would have put up a bigger fight. You know how he is, when he decides he's going to do something, he generally does it. The only thing that can stop him is his father," Tallen said. " Maybe he gave in because he realized how important this was to Val," Filia suggested. " Anyhow, shouldn't we be on our way to Ceifeed's temple?," Valgarv said. Filia nodded and began to walk off. Valterria and Tallen gave each other a worried look, and followed. As soon as the four had entered the forest, PJ reappeared. " Suckers. They should have listened to Tallen, he is my best friend after all!," PJ giggled, " There is no way I'm missing a trip to Ceifeed's temple!" Chapter III Luna Inverse, the Knight of Ceifeed, was reading a book when she felt a tingle in the back of her mind. " What on earth?," she wondered aloud to herself, " I don't sense anything major going on. . . " " Luna," a young Golden Dragon said as he entered the library, " a young Dragon named Nam is here to see you. He says it is a mater of grave importance." " Let him in," Luna nodded, " Perhaps he has something to do with that feeling that just came over me," she thought. " Hello, Luna-chan," Nam said as he entered, " I fear that something may be going on that will anger the elders." " What?," Luna asked, and gave Nam her full attention. " Viv was helping Uka and I rearrange the library, and she came across a book on Ancient Dragons. She went into a trace like state for a moment, yelped and ran out of the room, after denying anything was wrong." " I've been wondering about this for a long time," Luna sighed, " You do know that she IS and Ancient Dragon, weather you want to admit that or not, and that she is tainted with Mazoku blood. . . and that of one of the five Lords." " Have you been able to figure out which one?," Nam asked. " No," Luna shook, " She's had amnesia since the last Knight of Ceifeed found her in the woods near an Ancient Dragon village that had been sacked by the Golds." " Yes, and we have been watching over her ever since. She is the last of her kind," Nam sighed. " Not the last. Valgarv, the General of Hellmaster Phibrizio, used to be full Ancient Dragon. He was turned into a half Mazoku around the same time Viv was. He helped bring Dark Star into this world, then was taken over by him, and tried to destroy the world. Filia was one of the dragons that helped stop him. The L-Sama had him be reborn again in an egg, Filia raised him, but he still had a slight Mazoku taint, and now he's the General of Hellmaster. Rumors have been flying among the Mazoku that Valgarv's youngest son, Valterria, is a full Ancient Dragon," Luna said, " Either way, Valgarv, Valterria, and Valgarv's two other children, Vallos and Xelterria, have Ancient Dragon blood." " Isn't Xelterria married to Gaav? And don't they have a daughter?," Nam asked. " Hai. . . but Mazoku blood is so strong in her, it would cancel out the Ancient Dragon blood." " What am I to do about Viv? Should we tell her about everything?," Nam asked Luna. " No. I don't think that is a good idea. Perhaps it is all starting to come back. We'll wait a while and see if anything else happens," Luna said. " And Uka?," Nam asked. " Tell her nothing either," Luna said, " I have business to attend to, so if you'll excuse me, Nam-chan." " I'll see you later, Luna-chan," Nam said as he left. Luna sighed as she sat down in a chair with a thunk to think. Back at Viv's. . . Viv was humming quietly as she cleaned up the kitchen, and tried to sort out her thoughts. That man in her vision-or what ever that was-she thought bitterly, was so familiar and strange at the same time. " Gods why can't I remember!," she yelled to an empty house. Uka was at town shopping. Viv sighed. She wished Uka was there, then she would at least have someone to talk to. She could remember everything perfectly back to the day she was found by the previous Knight of Ceifeed, and had begun living with the Golden Dragons. . . mainly Nam and Uka's families. But everything before that was completely blank. She could remember her name, but Viv was only a nickname, she was sure. 'Viv' wasn't whole. It was empty somehow. Everything was empty. . . all she did was live a simple life in a small house in the middle of a forest. The only people she knew were the Dragons, and she only had two friends. When there had been a big commotion involving Luna's little sister, Lina, the Dragons had tightened their hold on her ten fold after an incident at the Fire Dragon King's Temple. She wanted so much to explore the world, find out who she really was, and what she really was. She wasn't a human, that was obvious, and she obviously wasn't a Gold. . . and she knew she wasn't a Mazoku, then the Golds wouldn't be looking after her. That left what. . . nothing Viv knew of. . . . " That book!," she suddenly yelled. It was on some type of dragon, and they weren't Golds either. Viv tossed the rag she had been using to wash the windows in the sink, and charged upstairs to the library. Soon. . . " Viv? Where are you?," Nam asked as he came in. " Nam?," Uka asked as she walked up, " Where's Viv?" " I don't know," Nam said, " I'm still a little worried about her." " Yeah, she totally freaked out over a book," Uka said as she and Nam entered the house. Uka set her shopping baskets on the table. " Hey guys," Viv said as she came downstairs, the book tucked under one arm. " Hey," Uka smiled, " Are you feeling better?" " I'm fine," Viv said, " Need some help?" " Sure," Uka nodded and the two girls went to work unloading the baskets. Nam just watched, and wondered if Viv would ever know what she truly was. Chapter IV " It's over a days walk to the temple. . . we may be able to see it by nightfall, though," Tallen said. " Oh how fun," Valterria said. " Well, it's worth it find Viv," Filia said with a smile, " Tallen, Valterria, how come you keep looking behind us?" " No reason!," both men said with innocent smiles. Filia and Valgarv exchanged a 'whatever' look, but didn't say anything more. From behind the group, PJ stifled a giggle. This was turning out to be more fun then he thought! " Well, what do you remember about Aunt Viv, Dad?," Valterria asked, trying to pass time. " She had lavender hair, and golden eyes that looked silver in the right light," Valgarv said with a smile, " She was always outgoing and she could be loud at times. I remember that when I annoyed her, she would throw her shoe at me. She was fascinated with magic and wanted more then anything to master all forms of it, even Black, just to say she could use it. . . most of all, I remember how she didn't hate anyone, even Mazoku, until you gave her a reason to hate you." " She sounds nice," Tallen said, and glanced over his shoulder. " What are you doing?," Val asked. " Nothing, I just thought I heard something, that's all," Tallen lied. " You know, PJ kind of reminds me of Viv," Valgarv laughed, " She was always getting into trouble like he is. Heck, she never listened to anyone." " L-Sama help us all, having to live with two of them," Valterria said with a smirk, and turned around. " Hey! What's that supposed to-uh hehe. . . ," PJ said as he jumped out of the bushes, " Wow! Will you look at that! I was out for a walk, and I happened to run into you and-" " Nope, not going to work," Filia said. " Uh. . . Dad said I should." " No. Phibrizio wouldn't send you after us if I told you to go home," Valgarv said, " Try again." " Um. . . I uh. . . was bored and just wanted and adventure!," PJ said, " Please let me come along! If I go home now, Phibby is never going to let me live this down! And if I'm so much like Viv, I'm sure she'll like me and wont mind me being there! Please Uncle Valgarv, Aunt Filia?" " Well. . . ," Filia stated, " It's up to Val. . . " " If you promise you wont get into trouble. . . and that goes for Tallen and Valterria too," Valgarv said, " Lead on, mother." " Yes!," PJ smirked. " This should be interesting," Valterria sighed as they continued on. Meanwhile. . . " PJ is gone," Phibby rolled her eyes. " I knew he was going to follow them," Genie said, " I knew I should have followed them." " Well you didn't, and you're not going anywhere now," Raya said. " What happened, anyway?," Phibrizio asked. " Filia told us that none of us would be allowed in Ceifeed's Temple but her, Tallen, and Valterria. She wasn't even sure they were going to let Valgarv in," Phibby said. " So Dad told us all to come home since we'd more the likely just get in the way anyhow," Vallos said, " And PJ, being the conniving little brat he is, decided to follow them." " That's my son for you," Phibrizio smiled, " So, how long before they get back?" " Filia said they would have to walk to the temple, and it's a few days journey, so I'm betting a week, maybe two," Xelterria said, " I just hope Aunt Viv doesn't freak out." " Why would she? He is her brother," Gaav said. " You figure she would have come looking for him by now," Genie said. " She probably thought he was dead, just like he thought she was dead," Phibrizio said, " Who knows, maybe she has amnesia or something." " Why would she have amnesia?," everyone asked Hellmaster at the same time. " No reason," Phibrizio shrugged, " Maybe the Golds brainwashed her. They didn't like the Ancient Dragons, remember. You know how much Val hates them, I figure she'd have the same feelings." " Since when did you become a philosopher, Phibrizio?," Gaav snickered. " Since when did you start using your brain?," Phibrizio shot back. The odd peace that had developed between the Lords since about the time Phibrizio had been brought back, and had held when Gaav was reintroduced into the group had been slowly dissolving for quite a while, and it had become a faster process after the Dragonball fiasco. The old Generals and Priests saw it as things getting back to normal. The 'Newbies' saw it as things getting worse. The two Lords glared at each other for a few minutes. " Yare, yare!," Xellos said as he, Zelas and Kosha showed up, " What have we here?" " A staring match?," Zelas suggested as she lit up a cigarette. " To what do I owe the. . . agony of this visit, Zelas?," Phibrizio sneered. " Oh, well, Dynast and Deep Sea got wind of how Valgarv is running all over the country side looking for his sister. I decided to look into it directly, not send my General/Priests after him and waste their time. We have a war to get ready for, you know," Zelas grinned, " You two aren't having a party without the rest of us, are you?" " I wouldn't dream of it," Phibrizio said as he made himself comfortable on his throne. Phibby followed his example and climbed up onto hers. " So, care to explain why your General is out doing something that will benefit you in no obvious way when we have a war to get ready for?," Zelas asked. " No," Phibrizio said, " and I don't like how you are getting into my business." " And I don't like how you are keeping secrets from us, Hellmaster," Dynast sneered as he and Deep Sea Dolphin appeared. " Dynast-kun!," Phibby giggled. Dynast benefited her with a nod. " Last time I checked, secrets were Xellos, Kosha, and Raya's game," Deep Sea spat, " What are you up too, brother?" " Nothing," Phibrizio said with a smug grin, " Absolutely nothing. Valgarv was told by L-Sama that his sister was alive and how to find her. In my opinion, that screams 'go find your sister, Val'. I decided that now was a good time to do it. She'll have twenty years or so to get used to us, and hopefully she'll be on our side. That puts three Ancient Dragons on our side. The three of them combined have the fire power of one hundred and fifty Golds." " So it's for more fire power," Dynast said with an evil smile, " And I doubt it's just that." " Maybe it is, maybe it isn't," Phibrizio shrugged, " I really don't care to tell you anything more. Now get out. All of you." Everyone but Raya and Phibby vanished. " Raya, I want you to go to Zone's Ruin and ask Zone what happens to the ruin during war times. We can't afford to have that place destroyed. . . I have plans for us that involve it." " Hai, Otoutosan," Raya said and was gone. " Father, what else do you have planed for Uncle Valgarv's sister?," Phibby asked. " I will tell you, my little love, when the time is right," Phibrizio smiled at his daughter, and it was a true smile. " Hai, Father," Phibby sighed. Chapter V " How much farther is it to the Temple?," Valgarv asked his adopted mother. " A long while, and it's getting dark. . . we better stop here for the night, so we can start off early in the morning," Filia said. " Alright, here is as good a place as any, I suppose," Tallen said as he sat down. " Hey, why can't we just keep going?," PJ asked as he sat down next to Tallen. " It's a thing, and it's called sleep," Val smirked at the young boy. " He's an eleven year old Mazoku. That word has no meaning to him what so ever," Valterria laughed. " I don't know weather to be insulted or laugh," PJ said with a smirk, and the others laughed. At Viv's. . . Viv had gone to bed early, mostly because she had a huge headache that she was positive had something to do with finding that book. She didn't have anymore flashback or visions while looking through the book. The things in the book had an odd sense of familiarity. . . almost like she knew them, but couldn't remember. As Viv drifted to sleep, she began to dream. . . * Blood was everywhere. The ground was crimson. Fire ragged through the town. . . screams filled the air. Viv was in a house similar to the ones that were burning, trying to hide. " Val! Where are you!," she whispered between tears. Why were the Golds doing this. . . they had done nothing to provoke such an attack! All they wanted was peace. And the best way to have peace was not to have war. " Hey! Here's another house that hasn't caught fire! Hand me a torch," someone laughed from outside. Viv screamed and ran from her now burning house out onto the gore filled streets. " There goes another one! Don't let her get away!," a Gold screamed as she ran by, " The elders are going to be mad if any of these traitors survive!" Traitors? We're not traitors! Viv screamed in her mind as she headed out into the forest, five Golds were hot on her tail. Why were they doing this? Everyone was dead! No! Val had been out of the village. . . he may have survived. She screamed his name as one of the Golden Dragon's spears skewered her.* " Valterria!," Viv screamed and sat up. She was soaked in sweat, and for the first time in centuries, she was afraid. " Viv! Are you okay?," Uka asked as she and Nam ran into Viv's room. " It was awful!," Viv sobbed, tears were streaming down her face, " Why? Why would anyone do such a thing?" " What?," Uka asked as she sat down next to her friend. " Golden Dragons they sacked a village. . . they killed everyone, and were setting houses on fire. They killed me!," Viv said, " My. . . I'm not sure who he is, but a man named Valterria that I knew was out of the village at the time. I was hoping he survived when they killed me." " Oh Viv, that couldn't have happened! You're alive now, so you couldn't have been killed," Uka said, and gave Viv a hug, "I'm going to go get you some water, okay." Nam watched Uka go and sighed. " It happened, didn't it?," Viv asked him, " It was real. Those were my memories weren't they? They're finally starting to come back, and now I don't know if I want them." Nam said nothing. " You knew, didn't you? Why didn't you tell me?," Viv asked, " What did my people, whoever we were, do to the Golds that caused our deaths?" " You had a weapon. . . one of Darkstar's weapons. . . and you wouldn't fight in the Koma wars, or let us use the weapon. The elders saw it as being traitors, and ordered your races death," Nam said, " That's all I can tell you. You have to find out everything else on your own." " If I was dead, how can I be alive now?," Viv asked, her voice was bitter. " One of the five Mazoku lords used their powers to resurrect you, and you were tainted with Mazoku blood," Nam said, " You know how you came to be under our care." " Hai," Viv nodded as Uka came back in with a glass of water. " Don't worry, Viv," Uka smiled, " I'm sure you'll feel better in the morning." " Thanks Uka," Viv smiled and thought, " Nothing will ever be better again." Chapter VI " Get up," PJ said as he shook Tallen. " PJ? It's still dark," Tallen mumbled. " I know. . . Valgarv keeps getting up and walking off, then he comes back and goes to sleep for a few minutes, then he leaves again." " So?," Tallen sighed. " So! Maybe he's worried about something," PJ said. " Yeah, maybe it's the fact that he's going to see his sister, who he thought was dead, in a few days?," Tallen rolled his eyes and lay back down. " Tallen! I don't like it when Val's worried. . . it makes me nervous!," PJ said. " PJ, go to sleep," Tallen said. " But Tallen!" " PJ, please, unlike hyperactive Mazoku, I need sleep," Tallen said. PJ muttered a few obscenities and went back to where he had been trying to sleep. " Great," Tallen thought, " Now we have a worried Mazoku General and a nervous Mazoku prince. . . " Meanwhile. . . Xelterria was standing on the balcony that was attached to her and Gaav's room, looking up at the stars. " Can't sleep?," Gaav asked as he came up beside her. " Nope," she sighed, " So much has been going on lately. . . Shabranigdo-sama is back. Dad's all worked up about Aunt Viv, and then there's the war. . . " " Speaking of the war," Gaav said, " I don't want you to fight in it." " What! I'm your Priest! I have to!," Xelterria said as she turned to face her husband. " What if you weren't the Priest anymore? Xelterria, I couldn't take it again," Gaav said. " Take what again?," Xelterria asked. " You almost died in the last war. . . I loved you then, not as much as I love you now, but I loved you. I couldn't take thinking that I would never see you again. If I couldn't stand it then, how in the Hell am I supposed to stand it now?," Gaav asked. " Gaav. . . I won't fight. . . I'll quit my job as your Priest," Xelterria said. " Good," Gaav smiled, " Now I have to go about the business of trying to find someone who can do the job as good as you did." Xelterria smiled, " Now what am I supposed to do?" Gaav shrugged, " I don't know." " Whose supposed to tell Vallos I quit?" " I leave that one to you," Gaav said. Xelterria laughed. The next morning. . . Nam had left the house at daybreak and headed for the temple. Luna was not going to like this, and neither were the elders. . . " Nam? Back again so soon?," Luna asked as he landed in the courtyard. " Viv had a dream last night. . . it was about my people sacking a village. More specifically the Golds sacking her village, she remembers getting killed, and something about some man named Valterria not being in the village," Nam said, then he took on his human form. " Does she remember that she was an Ancient Dragon?," Luna asked, looking slightly panicked. " No. . . but it's only a matter of time," Nam sighed. " Damn!," Luna yelled, " Damn! You know what that means. . . " " Yeah, I know. I can do it," Nam said, and looked away. " Are you sure? Are you sure you could kill her?," Luna asked as she put a hand on his shoulder, " I know you. . . care for her." " I could kill her," Nam said, " The elders want her dead if she finds about her past. I have to obey them." " I know. . . they're afraid of her power," Luna sighed, " They're afraid she'll join up with the Mazoku and destroy us all or some other crap. Just prey to Ceifeed that she doesn't remember anything else. . . " " I just wanted you to know that she was beginning to remember, so it wouldn't be a shock if she was. . . killed," Nam said, morphed dragon, and flew off. Luna closed her eyes, " Ceifeed, help us. . . ," Luna whispered. In the forest. . . " PJ!!!" " Hey! That's my mace!" " OUCH!!!!" " Oh Gods. . . " " Grrrr. . . .," Filia growled, " PJ! That is my mace! And you got it out from under my skirt. . . you you namogomi!" " Filia I-," PJ started as Filia advanced, he dropped the mace and backed up. " NAMOGOMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!," Filia screamed, grabbed her mace, and charged. " AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ," PJ screamed as he ran off. " Why me?," Valgarv asked as his adopted mother and PJ ran around him in circles. " Should we stop them?," Valterria asked. " No," Tallen said, " Eventually Filia-chan will catch him, and we'll finally get to see PJ get beat up, since he knows better then to hurt Filia." " Point," Valterria said as he and Tallen sat down and began to watch the pandemonium. " You're not helping me here, guys," Valgarv said, and Tallen and Valterria just grinned at him. PJ, on the other hand, continued to scream. Soon. . . " There's the temple," Filia said and pointed. " That's still a long way off," Valterria sighed. " Almost half a day," Filia nodded. " Filia-san-," PJ started. " Don't talk to me," Filia said, " Unless you want me to nail you with my mace again." PJ shut up. " He didn't mean to, Filia," Tallen said, " It wasn't his fault you told him to attack that troll." " I expected him to use Soul Destroyer!!!!!," Filia howled. " I didn't want to waist its magic on such a little thing, though," PJ said, " I understand why you're mad at me. . . I didn't really see anything. . . " This earned a glare from Filia. " Not that I wouldn't want to look," PJ mumbled. " You better shut up why you're ahead," Tallen advised his friend. Valterria nodded in agreement. " Anyway," Valgarv sighed, " If we hurry, we can get to the temple today. Who knows how much trouble they're going to give us about PJ being there." " You know, shouldn't you be calling him 'PJ- sama'?," Tallen asked, " He is the son of a Mazoku Lord, and you are a Mazoku General. . . his father's General to be exact. . . " " Yeah!," PJ giggled. Valgarv glared at Tallen, who sweat dropped and sighed. " Can we discuss this later? We have more important things to worry about, like finding my sister!," Valgarv said as he ran off towards the temple. " Wait for us!," the others all yelled and charged after him. Meanwhile. . . " What do you mean you quit!?!?!," Vallos yelled at his sister. " I quit!," Xelterria said, " In other words I stopped working for Gaav-sama! Oh. . . that sounds weird. . . I haven't called him that in years." " That was kind of creepy," Vallos agreed, the he started yelling again, " Just who is supposed to replace you! If you say that I am supposed to do *both* jobs, I'm going to go berserk!!!" " I could replace Mom!," Genie volunteered. " No," Gaav and Xelterria said at the same time, and Genie began to pout. " I'm in the process of either looking for a human that is worth turning Mazoku, or a Mazoku that is worth taking the time to train," Gaav said, " Every once in a while a decent Mazoku shows up." " Like Siren?," Vallos spat. " For Ruby Eye's sake no!," Gaav yelled, " Do you really think I'd hire someone that nuts? Deep Sea Dolphin is the insane one, not me." " Deep Sea has never been proven insane. . . Zelas and the rest of you just say she is 'cause L-Sama likes her most," Vallos said. " And because you're mad that she's the only Lord that hasn't been killed at some point in time," Xelterria said. " Aunt Zelas and Uncle Dynast have been killed?," Genie asked. " Hai," Gaav said, " Both of them so long ago that it doesn't even matter. Phibrizio can barley remember when Dynast got killed, and you know how good of a memory he has." " He remembers Zelas getting killed?" " Yeah, because he did it," Gaav laughed. " Why?," Vallos asked, " I thought he and Zelas were on good terms?" " They may be now, but then was a different story. . . she screwed up a major mission and got nailed for it," Gaav said, " Personally, I don't think she should have gotten killed for it, but Hellmaster got pissed because it resulted in his General getting axed." " Yeah, that's enough to piss him off," Genie mussed, " Daddy, why don't you bring back Rashaat or Raltark?" " If I can't find anyone better, I could do that. Good idea, Genie," Gaav grinned. " Didn't Dad kill them?," Vallos asked, and Xelterria shrugged. At Viv's. . . " Where have you been, Nam?," Uka asked. " I had some business to attend to. . . how's Viv doing?," Nam asked. " Fine. She seems to be herself this morning." " That's good," Nam nodded, " Where is she?" " Upstairs, reading that book that made her freak out the other day," Uka sighed, " If she's not careful, she's going to giver herself a heart attack." Nam smiled, " I don't think you need to worry about Viv, Uka." " Yeah, I'm a big girl, Uka," Viv smiled as she came downstairs, " Hey Nam! Where've you been all morning?" " Just taking care of a few things," Nam smiled. It was amazing. . . she had already forgiven him for not telling her what he knew about her. As Nam watched Viv walk into the kitchen, he realized he couldn't kill her. . . no matter what the elders, or anyone else said. Viv got her broom from the kitchen and went to sweep the porch, when she suddenly saw another 'vision'. . . * She was lying on the forest floor, barely conscious. She knew she was dying. Suddenly, she saw a ten-year-old human boy with black hair and green eyes standing over her. He had an evil grin on his face, and his eyes seemed to be laughing at her. . . * " Viv?," Uka asked and put a hand on her shoulder. " What?," Viv asked and blinked. " You okay?," Uka asked, " You were staring off into nothing." " I'm fine. Just daydreaming," Viv sighed, and began to sweep. Uka sighed to, and became even more worried about her friend. Chapter VII " Here we are," Filia smiled as they came the crest of a hill and saw Ceifeed's Temple. " It's huge. . . ," PJ said. " It's beautiful," Valterria gasped. " Isn't it?," Tallen agreed, " Come on then, we aren't going to find Viv by just standing around here, are we?" The temple gleamed in the late afternoon sunlight, and it looked as if it were made of gold and glass. It had tall spires that gleamed in the sunlight. The whole temple gave of a golden white glow. " It hurts my eyes. . . ," PJ mumbled to himself as they headed for the Temple. As they neared the entrance, five Golden Dragons in dragon form swooped down in front of the group. " Stop! Filia, how dare you bring Mazoku scum to this Holy place of Ceifeed?," the leader demanded. " They are on a peaceful mission!," Filia said, " Valgarv wishes to find his sister. Luna Inverse, Knight of Ceifeed, knows her location. We wish to speak with her." " No." " I was welcome here as a child," Valgarv said, " I have Dragon blood in my veins. . . more of it then Mazoku." " I have no desire to enter the temple," PJ spat, and glared at the Dragon. " Valgarv, you were welcome when you were one of us. . . when you were Filia's son," the leader said, " Now you serve the Mazoku filth." " I am still Filia's son!," Valgarv yelled. " You are still one of them. You are not allowed in the temple, or on the temple grounds. Leave now." " I just need to speak with Luna!," Valgarv protested. " Leave now, and take the Hellbrat with you," the Gold said, " or die." " We ARE going to see Luna," PJ said. " Leave, this is your last chance." " Let us speak to Luna," PJ sneered. " PJ-," Filia started. " So be it," the Dragon said, and fired a spell at PJ and Valgarv. PJ took to the air and drew Soul Destroyer. " NO!," Filia screamed, " Please stop! I beg you! In the name of Ceifeed stop!" Filia's pleas fell on deaf ears, though, as the fight continued. " Just what is going on here?," a voice demanded from above the battle. " Luna!," everyone yelled at the same time. " Yep," Luna grinned as she landed, she was in her Knight uniform, " Now, what is going on?" " These Mazoku wanted to see you, and they are forbidden in the temple," the leader said. " For Ceifeed's sake!," Luna rolled her eyes, " Do they *have* to come into the temple to see me?" " Well. . . no. . . but-," the leader began. " No buts," Luna broke him off, " Be glad no one- Mazoku or Dragon-was killed. Let me talk with them here. Be off. Next time someone wants to see me, tell me, and I'll deal with it." The Dragons nodded and walked off. " Now, what is it you need?," Luna asked. " I'm looking for my little sister, L-Sama told me you knew where she was," Valgarv said. Luna looked shocked, then she asked, " Whose your little sister?" " You would probably know her as Viv," Valgarv said. " L-Sama," Luna gasped, " When was the last time you saw her?" " The morning our village was sacked. . . I was out of the village," Valgarv said. " Was you name 'Valterria' then?," Luna asked. " Hai. . . " Luna sighed and looked up at the sky, " Ceifeed- sama! Why did you have to do this to me now!," she yelled, then she looked at Val, " Okay, as I'm sure you know, Shabranigdo and Ceifeed have been reborn, that means war is coming, I'm trying to get myself ready for it, and now there's this. . . oh well." " You know where she is then?," Valgarv asked hopefully. " Yep. She's been in the Golds care since about a day after she got resurrected as a Mazoku." " WHAT!," Tallen, PJ, Valgarv and Valterria all yelled. " Okay. . . maybe I better start at the beginning of what I know," Luna laughed, " Somehow Viv survived the attack on the village, and a Mazoku Lord found her and resurrected her as a Mazoku. We think that the Lord put a memory-blocking spell on her. Anyway, a few days later, the Knight of Ceifeed found her. It wasn't me, I'm not that old, and he knew what she was. So he put her in the care of two Golden Dragon families, and they've been watching over her ever since." " So she doesn't remember anything?," Valterria asked. " No. But lately she's been getting flashbacks of sorts. . . it all started when she ran across a book on Ancient Dragons. She remembers a man named Valterria, so she remembers you, but she doesn't know you're her brother," Luna said, " I'm betting seeing you will bring everything back." " I hope so," Val sighed, " Thanks Luna." " No problem," Luna said, " It's going to get dark soon, I can let you guys crash at my house, it's not far from here. There's a map to Viv's there too. Come on." " I owe you one, Luna," Filia smiled as they walked off. Late that night. . . Viv was not sleeping peacefully. Another dream was playing with her mind. * A strange voice said, 'Let's see if what Gaav claims is true, little one.' There was a flash, and she saw Valterria. A horn much like her own sprouts out of his forehead, and his eyes become dark and almost evil looking. He begins to scream and black feathery wings form on his back. As he continues to scream in agony, his arms turn dragon-like and feathery scales cover his shoulder. There is another flash, and he is standing with the boy from the earlier vision.* Viv's eyes flew open and she sat up. Her back felt strange as she lay back down, something was digging into her shoulder blades. She sat up again and happened to catch a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her head snapped back to her reflection. She had wings. . . big, black, feathery wings sticking out of her back. " Oh boy. . . ," Viv sighed after a moment of concentrating, they disappeared. After experimenting for a few minutes, Viv found she could make the wings disappear and reappear, but it caused her no pain, although it had seamed to cause Valterria pain in her dream. After pondering the sheer bizarreness of her life, Viv went back to sleep. Chapter VIII " Okay, here's the map to Viv's place," Luna said and handed Valgarv a piece of paper, " You're on your own from here. . . I'm sure I'm going to get an ear full when I get back to the Temple for helping you guys. Not that it matters, L-Sama told you to ask me about it, after all." " Bye Luna, say hi to Lina for us if you see her," Filia said. " Sure thing!," Luna smiled as she headed of towards the Temple. " Lina's what. . . 38 now?," Valterria asked. " Something like that," Valgarv shrugged, " Come on, it's not far to Viv's." " I can't believe the Knight of Ceifeed help us," PJ mumbled as they walked off. Soon. . . " There's the house," Valgarv said as they neared a clearing. The front door of the house opened and Viv walked out with a watering can, and she began to water the flowers in a small garden. " Is that Viv?," PJ whispered, and Val nodded. " We'll stay here, you go talk to her," Filia said. Valgarv nodded and entered the clearing. " Uh. . . Viv?," he asked nervously. Viv turned around and looked at him, and her mouth dropped open, " Who. . . oh my Gods," she gasped. Her mind seemed to freeze for a moment, then when it unfroze, she remembered everything. " Viv, it's me-," Valgarv started. " Valterria!," Viv squealed and ran over and gave him a hug, " I remember everything now! I'm an Ancient Dragon! You're my big brother! Oh Gods! I'm so glad you're alive! I was so worried about you! I was sure the Golds had gotten you!," Viv squealed again and gave Val another hug. Val held his sister, and smiled, " Gods, Viv, I thought you died in the fire. I missed you so much! How did you get out?" " I ran after they set the house of fire," Viv said, " They chased me, and one of them got me with a spear. I was fatally wounded, so they left me for dead in the forest. Then someone, this is still a little blurry, came and turned me into a Mazoku. I remember they said, 'let's see if what Gaav said is true'. I also remember something about a little boy. How did you survive?" " I got away without getting hurt. I went to the other villages, but they were all destroyed too. . . I got hurt, and they chased me into a desert. The figured I would starve to death or die of thirst. Then the Chaos Dragon Gaav found me. I was dying, and he offered to turn me into a Mazoku. I tool the offer, so I could get revenge on the Golds for killing our people," Valgarv sighed, " My name changed from Valterria to Valgarv that day." " Valgarv," Viv said. " Hai," Valgarv said, and then he told her of how he tried to bring Darkstar into the world and how he died and was reborn. " So Filia raised you? I've heard Nam talk about her before," Viv smiled. " I'm married too, and I have three kids. Two boys and a girl," Val smiled. " Really? I can't wait to meet them," Viv giggled. " I've go a granddaughter too." " Gods I feel old!," Viv laughed. " I know," Val smirked. They looked at each other and laughed some more. " Who are you?," Nam asked as he and Uka came out of the house. " He's my brother, Valgarv," Viv said. " Valgarv? He's the General of Hellmaster Phibrizio!," Uka yelled. " I know. And I'm an Ancient Dragon," Viv said, " It's no big deal. I'm going to get my stuff together, and go home with Val." " No," Nam said, " I can't let you leave. The elders said if you ever found out what you were, I had to kill you. And you have, so you must die." " I don't think so, goldie," PJ sneered as he, Valterria, Tallen and Filia came out of the bushes. Viv stared at Valterria, " I take it you're my nephew?" " Hai. My names Valterria," Valterria smiled, " Glad to finally meet you, Aunt Viv." " Valterria? It suits you," she giggled. " Look, buddy, you're not hurting Viv," PJ said. Viv looked down at him. " You look sort of like a kid I saw it a flashback I had the other day, but you're hair is longer," she said. " Oh, you must be talking about my dad," PJ grinned, " My name is Hellprince PJ. My dad is Hellmaster Phibrizio." " Look, I don't want to get in a big battle," Valgarv said, " But I'm not going to let you harm my little sister. I just got her back, after almost a millenium of thinking she was dead, and I'm NOT going to lose her now." " So you can let us leave, or we could kick your butts. . . it's you're choice," PJ said as he drew Soul Destroyer and flashed Uka and Nam his evilest grin. Poor Uka looked close to passing out, and Nam was trying to get up the courage to launch an attack spell at Viv. " Nam. . . please," Viv said as she stepped up to him, " We've been friends for over six centuries. . . don't destroy our friendship now." " Viv. . . I can't!," Nam sighed, " Go, get out of here, I'll tell them you left while we were gone." " Thank you, Nam," Viv smiled, gave him a hug, hugged Uka, and headed back to her brother. " Viv! No! They're Mazoku! They're evil! They'll corrupt your mind and soul!," Uka howled. " Goodbye Nam. Goodbye, Uka," Viv said as she, her brother, and the others vanished. " You didn't see a thing, Uka," Nam said as he turned and went inside the house. Uka, on the other hand, fainted. Chapter IX Back in Hell. . . " We're back!," PJ laughed as the group appeared in Phibrizio's throne room. " Obviously," Phibrizio grinned, " Did you find Viv?" " Here I am," Viv smiled as she stepped up. " L-Sama-," Phibrizio gasped. " Where are Raya and Phibby?," Tallen asked. Phibrizio just sat starring at Viv. " Dad?,' PJ asked. " What's wrong?," Valgarv asked. " I was the one that turned her into a Mazoku," Phibrizio said, " I remember Gaav was bragging about having turned a Ancient Dragon into a Mazoku. I didn't think it could be done, so I decided to try it myself. I found Viv, wounded in a forest. Someone had tended a large wound she had, but it was still fatal, so I used my powers to kill her, then resurrect her as a Mazoku. It worked, but as I was deciding what I was going to do with her, the Knight of Ceifeed came along, and carted her off to some house in the middle of freaking nowhere. The place was crawling with Golds, and I knew there was no way to get her out, so I sneak in, used a minor memory blocking spell, and got out of there." " You saved my life," Viv said, " I owe you." " That is really strange," PJ said, " The two Ancient Dragons to survive the massacre are brother and sister and they both got turned into Mazoku." Everyone laughed. " So, Viv-chan, where are you going to stay?," Filia asked. " I don't know. . . I don't have any of my things, and I can't risk going back to get them," Viv said. " You can stay here," Phibrizio said, " with your brother, of course." " Thank you, Phibrizio-sama," Viv smiled. " Now what?," Tallen asked. " We get ready for war," Phibrizio grinned evilly. " War?," Viv asked. " I'll explain," Tallen volunteered, " You see. . . " The End Viv: Another masterpiece complete. Val: So what now? Viv: War. Phibrizio: Another one? Gaav: Another pointless silly little war. Viv: Nope. Xellos: The war has a point? Viv: Yep! Val: We're doomed. Viv: Maybe. . . Val, Phibrizio, Gaav and Xellos: Huh!?! Phibrizio: You're going to kill us all off? Viv: No! That would be silly. Then I would have no one to write about. Gaav: So you're only going to kill some of us off. Viv: Exactly! Xellos: Who? Viv: Sore wa himitsu desu!!!! ^_^ Xellos: You guys are right, it is annoying when you ask someone a question and you get that answer. Viv: ^_^
